Working alongside owner Lowe Enterprises, OPX provided architecture and interior design services for the renovation of the 1,070-room Washington Hilton Hotel just up the road from our own offices in Dupont Circle. Situated on five acres along Connecticut Avenue, project goals included repositioning the hotel for expanded convention business, and set the foundations for increased development on the southern portion of the site, featuring the prestigious Hepburn Apartment building.
OPX designed the renovation of all guest rooms, reconfigured the meeting space to accommodate multiple groups and events simultaneously, and relocated the gym and pool areas to provide guests with top-notch amenities. The hotel repositioning features 110,000 SF of flexible meeting and convention hall space, including a signature 36,000 SF ballroom. Additional flexible exhibition space was created, allowing use as one single convention hall, or as many as 16 separate areas. The existing 1,200 SF fitness center was reconfigured to include a spa. Food and beverage operations were also enhanced with the addition of a coffee bar and other upgrades. The roof of this new exhibition hall was developed as an outdoor plaza and garden, providing green roof, fire pit, and functional areas for guest outdoor enjoyment.
The Washington Hilton Hotel is one of the largest hotels in DC. It is yet another extension of OPX's work with Hilton, a client with whom we have a long-term relationship, spanning locations around the world.
