Update on Building Erin’s Hut

This past July, we shared with you the incredible opportunity we’ve had in designing a “hut” for a brave, young lady named Erin. This project was organized through GPR and the Make a Wish Foundation, as Erin is 12 years old and a cancer survivor. Her cancer is in remission and she has been able to return to her life and go back to school!

Over the weekend, we officially broke ground on the hut! We want to give a big shout out to our very own Alistair Gellatly, Matthew Vargas, Sarah Wisseman, Eric Wyche, and Ben Straus for helping make this project possible, as well as Walsh Construction for generously offering to organize the manpower and manage the resources. Several volunteers came out to help, including Alistair, who had some shout outs himself:

“The main champion of this effort is Vito Germinario with GPR – he organizes these projects as his mission, covers a lot of the costs, and has generally brightened the lives of the 20-25 children who have had their “Tree House Wishes” granted. Most of them got some kind of tree house but Erin wanted a hut – with a cupola from which to bomb some unfortunates with water balloons. I like this kid.”

It has been a privilege for OPX to work on such a special project and we look forward to helping Erin’s water-balloon-launching hut come to life! Stay with us as we continue to share the progress with you!hut2
